I was born and raised in the beautiful country of Peru, in the city of Lima. From an early age, a soccer ball was always by my side. I am the youngest of six siblings. Soccer has always been the most passionate sport in my country, as it is across all of South America.
By the age of five, I was already playing soccer with my older brother. In Peru, it’s quite common for young children to join games with older kids, and those early experiences helped me develop strong skills with the ball. By the time I was 10, I was participating in school soccer championships throughout my city.
At around 14 or 15, I joined the San Lorenzo team in my neighborhood and began competing in the third division of the youth league. Not long after finishing school, I was given the opportunity to play for the youth division of the professional club Alianza Lima, one of the most well-known clubs in the country.
In 1992, due to political instability and the military taking control of the country, I left Peru and lived in several other countries before eventually settling in the beautiful nation of New Zealand in 1995. Since arriving in New Zealand, I have always remained involved with soccer.
In 2012, I became a parent coach and supporter for my children’s team at Green Bay High School. That year, we won the Waitakere Senior B Girls Football Championship. From 2012 to 2016, I offered private one-on-one soccer lessons. Then in the 2017 season, I worked with Eastern Suburbs AFC.
I also coached at Manukau United Football Club Inc., and in 2019, I served as the lead coach of the club’s Under-23 Reserve Men's team. After my time with those clubs, I returned to private coaching, offering one-on-one training sessions. These lessons paused during the Covid-19 pandemic, but once things returned to normal, I resumed coaching. I continue to offer one-on-one soccer training to this day.
